Covering a whale watch tour by Drone Video

It was me and my wife's 4th wedding anniversary so i surprised her with this, a Brier Island Whale watching tour. Both of us have never been on a whale watching tour before so we were excited, but we were not prepared for what we experienced. I was also glad that I brought my DJI Phantom 3 advanced drone with me as well as my DJI Osmo camera system to cover the day!

Mariner Cruises tour company were such a great group of people and know their stuff, as well as being local expert fishermen and women! The owner of the vessel Penny told us that what we witnessed that day has never happened to her in the whole time shes been operating the tour company (since 1994). Humpback whales are common in the Atlantic ocean off the coast of Nova Scotia but they rarely come near a fishing vessel for any length of time. But this day they came and they stayed for about an HOUR, and not only that but they played with us, and spit water and rolled over as if they were at sea world.

Once I got home and reviewed the footage from the 2 drone flights and the hours of camera coverage, I was even more blown away at the rare sight. I operate a drone for a business but it also can make for amazing vacation coverage as well, and this was no exception. Here is the video from our day at Brier Island. And be sure to check out my Instagram also for some images of the whales up close and some of the landscape of the Island.

Here is the Short version of the amazing footage of just the Humpback whales!
